The Pitt’s Katherine LaNasa Says Nurse Dana’s Protectiveness Over Emma Is to ‘Make Up for the Punch’
Katherina LaNasa is shedding light on her character.
The actress, who plays charge nurse Dana Evans in The Pitt, exclusively opens up to PEOPLE about her character’s relationship with one of Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s new additions.
Season 2 of the medical hit shows Dana mentoring recent nursing school graduate Emma, played by newcomer Laëtitia Hollard. The experienced nurse takes the younger woman under her wing, not only showing her the tricks of the trade but also the ropes of the ER.
LaNasa, 59, says Dana’s protectiveness over Emma is to make up for her being punched by an angry patient in season 1.'
"I think it is a way of protecting Dana's self. It is a way of making up for the punch to make sure she knows how to be safe. That will be a big theme in our relationship throughout the show," the actress says.
The Emmy winner goes on to compliment Hollard on her performance, saying, "The actress who played Emma knocked it out of the park and I'm really, really proud of her."
